Acne Treatment Guide: How To Treat Mild Acne? By Ashish Jain

Ashish Jain

Acne attacks you in military like precision! Second Lieutenant, Lieutenant and Captain! The attacks of acne are styled as mild, moderate and severe. All are unwelcome promotions! When you have the attack, treat it properly at the first stage itself, in the manner it should be treated. You will save lots of complications. If you allow it to pass through the second stage and reach the third stage, it is a certain invitation to scars. No scar ever looks great on the face!

So prevention is better than cure. Well said, but acne is such a type of happening, you can't prevent it. But when it does happen, you can treat it in a proper manner.

Self treatment, if you are sure about medication, is good. But to consult your doctor is better, as he is the right person, to recognize what type of acne is yours. He has the better eyes and judgments for the possible consequences of this attack.

Mild attack of acne means, arrival of whiteheads and blackheads on your face. Begin your treatment by over the counter medications consisting of benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Before using these medications, wash your face, the acne-prone area with a supportive cleanser and lukewarm water. Do the washing exercise, just twice a day, not more. Don't try to overreach the surface of the skin. It will be overreaction and the side-effects would do more damage to your skin. The healing process will be reversed. If you use soap, choose the mild one.

Patience and caution are two watchwords in the treatment of mild acne. You are new to the acne and so are your acne to the medication with which you confront it. It will take its time to understand and accept it. Don't you be alarmed, if you get dryness, redness or peeling. Persist with oil-free moisturizer, to tackle peeling. Two months, is the normal time required to treat mild acne. If it is not controlled by then, do meet the dermatologist for further guidance. He is the right person to put you on the alternative course.

If in the meantime, acne disappears, don't give up medications that brought success to you, immediately. Continue with the treatment for a couple of weeks more, so that the problem is rooted out, and lesions are not formed.

When you find this mild attack is not responding to the line of treatment adopted by you in good faith, the purpose of consulting the dermatologist is simple. On the merits of your case, he may take recourse to one or more, or combination of two therapies. Generally such medications may mean a prescription topical antimicrobial or topical retinoid. These deliver proven results.

Lastly, a bold assurance to all acne sufferers. Today, we have treatment for every type of acne. The factors that cause acne are many and they vary from individual to individual. So, the treatment depends upon certain fixed factors and certain variable factors like skin type and age. Meet your dermatologist and let him decide medication for you.

What To Look For In An NLP Training And NLP Trainer By People Building

People Building

NLP and Hypnotherapy are both incredibly valuable skills to learn. However, both therapies are unregulated but one standard certification board. To help you find the best training available, I have put together some key points to help you find the very best trainer and the very best training courses.

When it comes to finding a decent trainer, you should enquire about their own training experience, for example, they should be a qualified master practitioner and hold a trainers certification so that they can legitimately certify their students.

There are no requirements for NLP Practitioners or hypnotherapists to register their Services or to have had any training experience. However, the regulatory bodies that do exist, do tend to ask for qualifications from those that register with them. Therefore, the trainers certification should be recognised by an accrediting body such as the ABNLP or BBNLP.

As a trainer, they should be approachable and fit in with who you are as a person. A good way to find out if this is the case, is to meet them before signing up to the training. Do they offer a free event where you’re able to go and see them in action. If this is possible, observe them to see that they should have good rapport with their audience and a sense of fun. Have a chat with her at the end of the free event and before you sign up for the training, you should feel convinced that they deliver value.

But don’t buy yet! There are some further questions that you need to ask- what do you get for your money? What is included in the price e.g. manuals, audio material, VAT? In comparison to other training, do they offer value for money?

Check that the trainers and coaches are aware of different learning styles/paces and that the course is designed to accommodate these differences.

Are there any freebies included?

Does your chosen training company provide taster sessions?

Are they able to provide testimonials from other students?

Is the course accredited by relevant bodies

Check that there will be coaches at training events and that they are qualified.

If you’re satisfied with the answers that you get from your questions, don’t delay in signing up for the training, usually the price they have quoted you will be for a limited time only. NLP and Hypnotherapy trainings are becoming increasingly popular, if the training company you are thinking of training with are attracting custom, the prices they charge will probably increase on a regular basis.

Why Oatmeal Flat Out Works With Itchy Skin By James Calvin

James Calvin

Itchy skin can be brought on by a variety of factors. Bug bites, rashes, and skin problems such as eczema can all be responsible for itching skin. No matter the underlying cause, itchy skin is maddening and makes life miserable.

One natural remedy for itchy skin is oatmeal, but not the oatmeal so commonly eaten for breakfast. The oatmeal used to relieve itching is colloidal oatmeal. Colloidal oatmeal is still made from oats, but it is prepared differently than breakfast oatmeal. With colloidal oatmeal, the oats are ground very finely or even pulverized.

Grinding the oatmeal helps it absorb liquid readily. When it is added to water, it almost instantly produces a milk-like substance that gives the water a slimy consistency. This is because the oatmeal acts as a colloid, which means the molecules spread through another substance and permanently change its consistency. In this case, the molecules of oat spread through the water and permanently change the consistency of the water. Since the two substances combine together permanently, no oatmeal particles sink in the tub or float on the top of the water.

Oats have long been used for skin care treatment. The Egyptians and the Arabians used them as a skin beauty treatment as early as 2000 BC. The ancient Romans and Greeks also used oat baths to heal skin problems.

Oats are great for treating skin because, when colloidal oatmeal covers the skin, it actually binds to the skin. This binding helps it moisturize and soften the skin, as well as help protect it. This is because the water is attracted to the skin and held there by the colloidal oatmeal. Colloidal oatmeal is also beneficial because of its natural ingredients, which include cellulose and fiber. All of these characteristics combined also are why colloidal oatmeal is able to make the skin softer and more elastic.

Conditions that respond well to a colloidal oatmeal treatment include eczema, chickenpox, shingles, sores, sunburn and insect bites. Other skin irritations, such as that created by poison ivy, can also be relieved with a colloidal oatmeal bath.

Colloidal oatmeal can be made at home using regular oatmeal. To do this, oatmeal purchased from the grocery story should be placed in a food processor, coffee grinder, or blender. Using one of these kitchen appliances, the oatmeal can be ground finely into colloidal oatmeal. This process can be somewhat tricky, though, because ground oatmeal that is too coarse will sink to the bottom of the bathtub rather than act as a colloid.

Regardless of if the colloidal oatmeal is homemade or store bought, directions for its use are the same. A lukewarm bath should be drawn. It should not be hot because hot water will irritate the skin further and the water will absorb moisture from the skin instead of lubricating it.

After the water is at the correct temperature, several cups of oatmeal should be added to the bath as it fills. Once the tub is full, soak in the water for 10 minutes. Afterward, pat the skin dry. Do not rub it, as this will also irritate the skin and can potentially cause the itchy area to be torn open. This process might need to be repeated several times, perhaps even three times per day, if the itching is severe.

When getting out of the bath after colloidal oatmeal soaking, it is important to be cautious. The skin can become very slippery from this type of bath, making it easy to slip on the side of the tub or on the floor after getting out of the tub. In addition, using a colloidal oatmeal bath to relieve itching can sometimes leave a sticky feeling on the skin afterward. If this happens, the skin can be rinsed with a few cups of fresh warm water.

When taking a bath with colloidal oatmeal, it is important to make sure it does not get into the eyes. This can cause irritation. Also, if the itchy area is highly inflamed, it is best to avoid taking a colloidal oatmeal bath.

Colloidal oatmeal is a highly beneficial natural treatment that can work wonders toward stopping itching and irritation from a wide variety of skin problems and irritants.

Identify The Symptoms Of Diabetes In Time By Ashish Jain

Ashish Jain

“Prevention is better than cure”

Each syllable of this wise saying is worth its weight in gold. It is applicable to any aspect of life, but it is emphatically applicable as regards your health. You can replace your TV, you can replace your car, but can you ever replace your body? Leave aside the philosophical and spiritual aspect of it. What a great feeling it is to live as a healthy person!

Diabetes is such a disease, if you once join its company, to wriggle out of its influence is very difficult, sometimes impossible!

Diabetes does not give you the exact symptoms of its arrival. You need to be alert and your general knowledge about health related problems needs to be up to date. If you are lucky enough to trace the symptoms of the diabetes early, it will be easy for you to recoup your original health. Well begun is half done!

Some of the disturbances in the state of your normal health, should put you on inquiry, at once. Blurred vision, unusual weight loss, increased fatigue without reason, frequent urination are some of the definite indications. Of the millions and millions who have diabetes, it is surprising that 25% of them don't even know that the disease has taken hold of them.

What could be the causes of diabetes? Why such a large number of people are attacked by this disease? The reasons could be many. That is being overweight, carrying heredity factors, and overeating habits and inactive daily routine with no exercising.

Diabetes is broadly categorized into two types. Type I and Type II. Children and young adults get the type I diabetes. People in this category, if they suffer from blindness, kidney damage and heart disease, “diabetes” in all probability, will join the band. When your body is unable to produce the required level of insulin, and is unable to utilize the sugar intake from the various types of foods that you take, you are suffering from Type II diabetes.

Apart from the food intake, if you are continuously depressed, that could take you to the doors of diabetes. When the body doesn't get the proper exercise, and the mind doesn't n get the happy exercise, it will lead to negativities in all aspects of your life.

It is the opportune time for the diabetes to find its entry gate with in your body. So your mind level vibrations need also to be positive. The mind level and body level negativities are responsible for the entry and sustenance of diabetes.

Bunions A Boney Toe Problem By Jeff Foster

Jeff Foster

Bunions or Hallux Valgus as this condition is commonly called in the medical community are a source of foot pain and deformity in many Americans today…particularly women.

One of the most common causes of problems of the forefoot, bunions appear as a bump at the base joint (metatarsophalangeal joint) of the big toe and often are swollen and sore. The big toe can drift over towards the remaining toes as the bunion enlarges, particularly placing pressure on the second toe. A bunion develops most often in women and is thought to be primarily related to wearing ill-fitting shoes.

Why then do women wear ill-fitting shoes since this habit can lead not only to the development of a bunion but to the development of other foot maladies such as corns, calluses, and such? Well, the answer is quite simple…to look fashionable! Seems to me, if the shoe makers of the world really wanted to have a booming business then they would design fashionable women’s shoes that looked phenomenal and felt like house slippers when you put them on. But, I digress.

Even though bunions can be hereditary, most often bunions are related to wearing shoes that are too tight, too narrow and too high causing pressure on the natural anatomy of the forefoot. The joint at the base of the toe flexes with every step and continued pressure on this area causes the joint to continue to enlarge causing increasing pressure, pain, swelling and redness.

The skin over the bunion can become quite sensitive and red and may even become infected. Bunions can even get to the point when walking is difficult and surgical intervention is the only resolution.

A bunionette or Tailor’s Bunion can develop on the joint of the little toe along the outside of the foot. Again the cause of the bunion is the same, most often poor fitting shoes resulting in increased pressure on the forefoot, but in this case the little toe drifts inward towards the big toe.

The very best treatment for a bunion is prevention. If that is not possible, then the next best treatment for a bunion is to wear shoes that have a wide toe box allowing ample room for the toes to move around and to avoid getting pressed together causing them to overlap.

Warm Epsom salt soaks, bunion pads, bunion night shields, bunion bandages, and even orthotics can provide temporary relief of pain but it is making the decision to wear properly fitting shoes which is the best treatment decision of all.

Finding A Dermatologist That Cares By Ken Black

Ken Black

Finding a good dermatologist that cares about you and your acne problem can be tough sometimes. When you have blemishes, your self-esteem may be at its lowest point, you may feel self-conscious about the way you look, and you may even not want to leave the house.

Strangely enough, when you find yourself suffering from acne, reaching out to a stranger may be one of the best things you can do for yourself. That stranger is a dermatologist, a trained skin specialist who has probably seen it all, and who can give you valuable advice about your skin, and prescribe an appropriate treatment.

If you are thinking about visiting a skin physician for the first time, you are probably feeling apprehensive. This is absolutely normal. After all, you (or your health insurance) are going to pay a stranger to pick and prod at your face. You will be showing off a part of your body that you probably spend most of the time trying to hide. But the effort and perhaps slight embarrassment is well worth the reward - a new chance at radiant, healthy-looking skin.

When seeking out a specialist, make a list of what you are looking for. What do you like about your family physician? Are you most concerned about someone who is sensitive to your concerns and has good chair-side manner? Are you more worried about having someone with flexible hours who can accommodate your hectic schedule? For some, the most important thing is having a very knowledgeable doctor with reputation and extensive training. Still others seek out dermatologists because they specialize in certain skin conditions.

Whatever your specific needs and interests, a good doctor will treat all his or her patients with respect, patience, sensitivity, and courtesy.

Well-trained professionals will be able to answer all your questions and provide you with several treatment options. Before your first visit, take the time to prepare a list of questions. You should find someone you feel comfortable talking to, and be able to carry out an open dialogue with. If you have any questions about your medication, treatment options, or anything else, don't hesitate to ask. Most like their patients to be prepared and to demonstrate a vested interest in their treatment plan.

If you find your dermatologist difficult to talk to, consider finding a new doctor. You should never feel rushed, ignored, or unable to ask questions. One thing most patients avoid doing is revealing their anxiety about visiting a dermatologist. It can actually be to your benefit to let your doctor know about your nerves. This can help them become more sensitive to your concerns, and will probably result in a better visit for both of you.

If you have decided to take that important step of finding a good acne skin care expert, here are a few tips for finding the best one in your area. If the cost of treatment is paramount to you, consult your health insurance to see if they cover dermatology, and whether you are restricted to a specific network of physicians and try to make an appointment as early as possible - waiting lists are common.

What are the qualifications of a well-trained dermatologist? They must be a medical doctor that is certified by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and trained in dermatology. Some will have graduated from an accredited medical school, and have completed between three to five years of specialized training. This certification requires that they pass oral examinations and a comprehensive written exam.

Other things to look for - membership in the American Academy of Dermatology. Members receive mandatory continuing education classes, they are peer reviewed, and must remain in continual good standing to remain members.

You should also try to find a skin doctor with experience. The one with many years experience is more apt to make an accurate diagnosis and find appropriate treatment. If you are seeking help for a somewhat rare skin disorder, you will want to find an authority with extensive research and training experience with that disorder.

Also, ask your family doctor or friends for their opinion. Not that it always works, but, you just might find a great Dermatologist that way.

Clearing Up The Wart Myths By Susan Fielding

Susan Fielding

Warts in reality are nothing more than benign tumors of the skin that come about from a viral infection. The virus which is responsible is the human papillomavirus (HPV), a DNA virus that is double stranded, much like the DNA itself. The virus locates itself in the bottom layer of the skin and clones into fairly normal-looking skin. There are multiple types of HPV that each cause different types of warts. Some HPV subtypes also have the potential to cause cervical cancer, and also other more vague types of wart-related cancers, of which none are that common.

Contrary to popular belief, warts have no roots growing inside your hand. They only create themselves in the epidermis, which is the top layer of skin. When they grow in a downward direction, they dislodge the layer of skin that is below the epidermis, the dermis. The warts will never reach the dermis and never will grow into the dermis either. The underside of a wart is actually made up of smooth strands.

Warts have the ability to occur in people of all ages, but mostly in children and young adults. They are spread through direct contact, simply through the touching of another wart. They will normally cure themselves, but no two will cure themselves in the same timeframe. Most will take only weeks or months, but it is not uncommon to find those that take years. The immune system of the person determines how susceptible they are to the transmission of the warts. Those with diseases such as AIDS that directly reduce your immune system will see the warts last longer periods of time than those who have healthy immune systems.

Most warts can be cured through the use of over the counter medications. If you are someone that is resistant to these medications, there are other options for you. Salicylic acid is one common treatment, and is also very effective, but it necessitates consistent treatments each day. Salicylic acid can be used in many forms that include a thick oil base, or incorporated into a plaster material form. Cryotherapy is also a productive treatment. This simply is where the warts will be frozen on the hand using a form of liquid nitrogen. Once frozen, the wart can then be easily removed from the skin with no effects. If the warts are on your feet, you should not use the cryotherapy method because there is the chance that a blister could develop and become painful.

Body Wraps For Cellulite By Robert Miller

Robert Miller

Body wrapping is one of the newest cellulite elimination techniques. A cellulite body wrap consists of a special wraps or an article of clothing manufactured from of plastic or rubber, worn or wrapped around, covering the waist, hips and thighs. Others may cover almost the entire body. Presently a greater number of beauty salons and spas offer body wrapping as one of their services. This procedure is thought to reduce the cellulite from waist, hips, and thight by inches. Since cellulite is mainly water-saturated fat tissue, a person can lose inches, though not pounds, in a few hours as a result of the body being wrapped in this special material for in a few hours. This is ideal if you need to lose a few emergency inches quickly for a special occasion.

The good news is these body wraps can also be administered at home. You can wear this special type of clothing as you are conducting daily activities, such as sleeping or shopping. There are several varieties of body wraps. They work in various ways. Some of them are inflated by using your vacuum cleaner. Others use devices, like hair dryers, for example to add warm air. It is also possible to use a lotion or cream following the wrap or even directly on the wrap.

Many experts concur that using a body wrap can lead to lost inches and sometimes pounds. However, this can be simply explained by lost perspiration, achieved by removing excess body fluid. Unfortunately, for the most part, these are temporary reductions because the lost fluids are replaced after eating and drinking. Additionally, the process of removing body fluids in this way can have harmful effects. The dehydration as a result of this process can lead electrolyte imbalance in the body.

If you have body wrapping done little by little, by a reputable spa, great results can be achieved. The price range for a body wrapping session varies from $40 into the thousands, depending on the wrap's level of sophistication and the results you want to achieve.

Some spas even offer natural and herbal wraps. A variety of herbs are used and can aid body wrapping by increasing the body's circulation or by soothing your skin. The process for body wrapping can be complex and can, at times, be unpleasant. The release of the toxins can even make you feel as if you have a fever. This toxin release is as a result of the herb-infused sheets wrapped around your body. The result of which is that all the toxins are eliminated from your body as a result of this detoxification process, cellulite gradually disappears from the body. Mud, salt, and seaweed are other body wrapping favorites. These are all very popular body wraps. Generally, in the course of this process, the client is wrapped from the neck to their toes with their arms pressed close to the sides of their body. For those with claustrophobia, this can be an extremely uncomfortable experience, and is therefore, not recommended.

Regardless of the type of body wrap you select, it is important that you feel comfortable with the spa or beauty salon of your choice. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the person conducting the body wrap is well-trained and is always nearby to help you. The chosen spa can make a great difference. Therefore, it is worthwhile to do some research before you begin the body wrapping process.

What Is Eczema? By Susan Fielding

Susan Fielding

Eczema is a commonly used term, which includes many varieties of inflamed skin conditions. Probably the most common of all forms of eczema is what is known as atopic dermatitis. About 10% to 20% of the world’s population suffers from this chronic disease, which is a relapsing, and uncomfortably itchy rash during their childhood. On a positive note, many children with eczema will learn that as they get older, this disease should clear up and go away on its own.

According to NIH, the National Institutes for Health, there are roughly 15 million Americans who suffer from some form of eczema. Out of this number, 10 to 20 percent of toddlers develop eczema, but in over half of these toddlers, the disease will fully heal during the ages of 5 and 15 years old. Though there are some forms of eczema which will linger with a person throughout their entire life.

While eczema can and will look different on each person that has it, the characteristics should all be the same. These characteristics are red, dry, and irritated patches on the skin. A commonly used way to describe this skin disease is the itch, which then turns into a rash. The reason for this is that it begins as an itch, but after it is scratched, you will see a rash. You will find that this disease is not limited to just part of the body. Toddlers will normally get this disease around the legs, neck, head, forehead, and cheeks. As one gets older, this disease will target the face, neck, knees, ankles, and elbows. If the rash from eczema gets infected enough, it may begin to fester up and begin oozing.

There are ways in which eczema can be avoided if simple measures are taken. Here are some simple household measures that you can take:

Do not expose yourself to sudden climate changes, avoid intensive sweating, try to moisturize regularly, avoid harsh detergents and solvents that you are not used to, limit stress, and be cautious of any and all foods that might cause some sort of outbreak.

Another vital part of treating an outbreak of eczema is what is known as self-control, which is where you want to make sure that you do not scratch at all. Due to the basic nature of it being itchy and dry, the easiest way to get the itch out is to treat it with lotions, either over the counter or via prescription. This will keep your skin moist, and this should be performed after each bath or shower. Cold compresses that you apply to the skin can provide temporary relief from the itch as well.

Cholesterol-Lowering Drugs By Sarah Thomas

Sarah Thomas

Do you suffer from high cholesterol? Regardless of whether or not you get regular physical exercise, are undergoing diet therapy, or losing weight, you should look into cholesterol lowering medications. These drugs are sometimes the only strategy you can use if all the other ones fail. First of all, you should understand the role cholesterol plays in the body. It is present in all of the body’s cells. The problem is, when you have too much, your risk of heart disease is increased. For that reason, you need to eat a healthy diet and have an active lifestyle.

Taking drugs to lower your cholesterol is dependent on a few different factors. One of these is the amount of it in your blood, as well as the amount of other fats. You can lower your cholesterol level significantly with cholesterol lowering medications. However, these drugs can be expensive in some cases and might have side effects. You should be vigilant about maintaining a healthy diet that’s low in fat, exercise regularly, stay at a healthy weight, and refrain from smoking. Try to do a bit of research on the potential side effects also. If you do experience any, talk to your physician about it.

Statin
All sorts of cholesterol lowering drugs exist. One is known as statin. These drugs can be quite effective at lowering your cholesterol levels. At the same time, however, they are known to produce side effects. Studies that have been conducted on the subject indicate that you should use “Co-Enzyme Q-10” along with the statin drugs. This is because these cholesterol reducing drugs can deplete some essential enzymes. By using the “Co-Q” supplement, your heart will be protected.

Bile Acid Sequestrates
These drugs are another option to consider. Bile acids in the body are secreted from both the gall bladder and liver in bile. They pass through the intestine to decrease the level of fatty content in food as a way to improve absorption. Following this, they are re-absorbed into the intestine, and then go to the liver once more. One disadvantage in using this type of medication is malabsorption.

Fibric Acids
Also known as “fibrates,” fibric acids are effective because they reduce the production of triglyceride and take it out of circulation. These medications also up the amount of HDL, referred to frequently as “good cholesterol. Fibric acids contain lopid, gemfibrozil, or fenofibrate (tricor)..

Nicotinic Acid
These acids, also commonly called “niacins,” work by reducing levels of the “bad cholesterol,” that is, LDL. They also help to increase HDL. In large enough doses, niacins vitamins can reduce triglycerides.

It’s not very difficult to take these drugs, for the most part, but be aware that there are a certain number of drug-interactions associated with their use. Stomach problems are the most common complaint of people who take them (usually cramps, pains, or constipation). The symptoms, however, while they vary in severity, usually go away as the therapy goes on. Making the right choice of cholesterol lowering medication for you is a very important decision.

Acne Facials By Sarah Thomas

Sarah Thomas

Almost everybody cares about their skin. We usually want to keep it looking as fresh and healthy as we can, by protecting it from all sorts of environmental harms. In a sense, our skin is the largest organ in our body. It has a variety of functions. One of the most important among these is the protection it affords against foreign substances. It also serves as a kind of transfer point to get rid of toxins from within our body. For all of these reasons, it is important to take very good care of our skin.

Acne is a common, and serious, skin problem that is seen in people of all ages and ethnic groups, and can affect both men and women. As cases of people with acne become more numerous, a few companies have began to develop special acne facials for people suffering from its effects. These facials are in fact skin treatments that penetrate deep under its surface to clean, hydrate, and rejuvenate, doing more than just minimizing acne blemishes. They are a comprehensive treatment for your face, and are designed to make it healthier overall.

There are now a few acne facials available at health stores. They are also easily available on the Internet. The Internet has become a very popular place to find these sorts of products, in fact. A word of advice though: before you pick a particular variety of acne facial, remember that their efficacy is highly related to what type of skin you have. There are also other things to consider, such as what kind of treatment you are looking for, as well as your age. And speaking of age, it’s worthwhile to start using this product around your late 20s, as this is the time that acne will have started to develop in most people.

An acne facial usually includes a cleansing process, massage, steam, and involves using a face mask. The facial works by getting rid of the outer layer of dull, dead skin cells that make up the skin’s shell or epidermis. They are also a big help in removing dirt and bacteria that can accumulate in the acne-prone areas and cause new blemishes to appear.

The massage is a very important part of many acne facials, just as it is with other kinds of facials in general. It’s useful because it helps blood circulation, which in turn helps lymphatic drainage—the elimination of waste and toxins from the body. Besides these things, acne facials are great at soothing and relaxing the muscles of the face, which is a pre-requisite for nice, healthy skin.

Finally, steam is used in acne facials to weaken whiteheads and blackhead for easy removal afterwards. The facemask is used because it helps to clarify and tone the skin. It can even help treat dry and acne-covered skin.

How To Show Love To An Autistic Child By Rachel Evans

Rachel Evans

One of the most pervasive myths that surround autism is that a child who has it will never show affection and can’t accept getting affection from anyone. There have been literally piles of stories of parents taking their child to a psychologist and the doctor telling the parents that your child can’t possibly be autistic because he gives you a hug now and then. While this opinion is just flat wrong, studies have shown that autistic children do process sensory touch differently than a non-autistic child and that this is where the myth that autistic children don’t like to be touched comes from.

Autism and the way it affects kids really runs the gamut from light to severe. An excellent point to remember when dealing with an autistic child is that every single autistic child is different and will react to almost everything differently. Here are some tips for showing your autistic child affection, and remember, your experience may vary.

•Trial and error. For some kids with more severe autism, a simple, random hug can be sensory overload. They can become agitated, upset and even violent if they are touched without prior warning. You will probably need to have a trial and error approach when it comes to hugging and touching your autistic child. Some methods may be responded to in a positive way, other ways won’t be. You just have to try and see.

•Let the child come to you. If you think your autistic child needs a hug, instead of rushing into his personal space and just taking one, speak to the child, bend down to his/her level and open your arms. Smile and let the child know that they are loved and see what the response is. If they don’t come running in for a hug, don’t be offended, it may just not have been the right time for the child.

•Try hand signals. If your child is too sensitive to hugs or touches to show affection, you can try positive reinforcement in addition to hand singles. Things like a simple thumbs up accompanied by a smile and some positive comments can let the child know they are loved and what they did was good. You can also offer the child a chance to hug during these situations and they might just take you up on it.

•Make sure everyone is on the same page. If you, the parents, are starting to make progress on getting your autistic child to be more affectionate, you don’t need a sibling, teacher or grandparent who doesn’t know or understand your child’s boundaries messing up all of your hard work. If you’ve begun to implement an affection program with your autistic child, make sure everyone who would possibly try to hug or touch him/her knows the rules. Consistency and repetition are crucial to autistic kids, and this applies to a situation like this, as well.

Trying to figure out a puzzling condition like autism can be a lifelong challenge. For many parents, the affection issue may be the biggest. But with patience and learning to go by the child’s cues and not your own, you will be able to connect with your child in a deep and meaningful way.
